Havel-Spree Colloquium 2015
Havel Spree Colloquium 2015 at the FU Berlin
More than 40 young academics from several Berlin and Potsdam research institutions of plant sciences met at the Havel Spree Colloquium on November 24th. PhD students have been organizing this event traditionally for their fellow students for over ten years now. This year PhD students of the department of molecular developmental biology of plants from the DCPS (FU Berlin) formed the organizing committee. The organizing committee was formed by Sylvia Bolt, Louisa Brock, Jenny Engelmann, Georgetta leonte and Daniela Pezzetta.
The PhD students presented their work by either giving a lecture or presenting a poster. During the whole day students discussed ideas, exchanged experiences and established new contacts and future networks.
Invited Speakers
The organizing committee had invited two speakers. The first speaker Prof. Dr. Udo Heinemann delivered insight into the review process of grant proposals at the DFG. The second speaker Dr. John Lunn shared his experience and expertise about his work as an editor at a scientific journal.
DCPS Prizes
As a final highlight, DCPS Prizes were awarded for best talks and posters. This has been made possible by a generous donation of Prof. Dr. Jürgen Schmitt, a former member of the DCPS. It was the first time DCPS prizes have been offered and this will be continued in the coming years.
